35mm Summilux v2 1992 + M9-P

I like that dual nature of these vintage lenses: really 2 in 1. From dreamy to sharp...

I have to say my silve brass 35asph (1996-2016) is surely one of the best built lenses around, performs great etc.... but but but.... the pre-asph Lux siren gets loud in my head again....

I know opinions are divided on portraits, but personally I can't think of a better way to show the characteristics of a lens. But I try to post a bit of everything.

I agree on the portraits. I wish I had more human subjects to photograph but this is one of the wife before I told her I want another lens. The one after I will not post 😏

I have been haunted by this lens for more than a decade now... I do have the 35f2Asph... its lovely....but... @evikne 's work isnt helping me forgetting that maybe, this is the one for me despite all its limitation in terms of creature confort....

How do you guys cope with the 1meter MFD?

I read somewhere recently something that went like this: "oh its actually a blessing in disguise, it forces you to treat it like the wide angle it is"     Which I guess means let the context show, and if you do need more "focus" you always have your 50mil at 70cm....

Just finding reasons to keep myself from it but at this point in my life I feel like those women/men in romantic novels who have everything they could possibly want or dream of in their marriage (my marriage with the 35f2 asph) yet they are obsessed with an impossible and imperfect love affair (the imperfect and very limited 35 1.4 pre-asph....)

Mine (v2, Canadian) has 3ft as the closest marking, but actually focuses to 0.85m.

One of the very few times I wish my camera had a flip screen (and my rear screen is covered). Instead, I had to lie on my back to take this picture under the fence at minimum focus distance. The cows just barely fit in the frame (uncropped). 😄

M11-P, 35mm Summilux v2 @ f1/4 - zone focused from hip so focus and framing is a bit off.
