the more I see images from this lens, the more I like it.

Had the chance to get one copy (SN299 - Canada) and I am always impressed from it.

Perhaps one of the best choice with a film camera (at least for me).

I’ve only owned it for a few days and I’m very happy. I’ve been taking the same pictures wide open and at f5.6/f8 to compare and the difference is startling. 2 totally different looks. For documenting my life, which is pretty much all I do nowadays unless I visit a more urban environment, this lens is almost perfect. I love it for black and white, even on an m10r it gives you a gentle look, something I’ve been looking for since buying this camera. I do kind of wish I hadn’t sold my original monochrom now as I think this lens would work very well with that camera.

Sounds like that's got potential for another purchase🤣

This is an example snap shot of my daughter illustrating the softness and background bokeh I like when shot wide open. I find it difficult to replicate in post with other lenses I own.

I also really enjoy it’s stopped down performance. It’s sharp without being too ‘modern’

One of your best!

Thank you so much! It was the confirmation of a boy in our close family, and his little sister. Even though this was just a quick snapshot, it helped that they were able to stand still for a moment, something my own kids can't do. 😉

Forgive me if posting an eBay link here is verboten, but just wondering if anyone here has purchased this (or similar) and made this modification to their v2 pre-ASPH Summilux?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/386319046984?hash=item59f268d948:g:NdMAAOSw2tBk8xzB

Stainless “steel rim” front ring allowing for e43 filters.  Somewhat confusing size as the original steel rim takes an e41, but possibly an elegant option to leave the bulky clip on hood at home while still having a multitude of filter options.

Actually since e41 vignets on a v1, e43  is preferable even on a v2 35 Summilux .

I had such a ring fitted on a v2  :

Also asked Chris @Skyllaney to fit an e43 thread  onto another 35 v2 🙂

Thank you, JM.  Do you happen to know the thread pitch of the E43 filters that fit this ring?  Will it fit modern Leica or B&W filters, or does it take the older v1 Summilux 50 e43 filters?

I put an old  Walz e43 filter . The lens is not with me right now.

Best is to ask the seller from ebay .

I've posted this elsewhere, but as it's from the first roll through my recently CLA'd 35 Summilux-M pre-asph v2 (Germany) I thought I'd post it here.  It was hazy and my local tech couldn't get the rear retaining ring off to clean the rear elements; thankfully a more competent repairer did the job and this lens went from unacceptably glowy at all apertures wider than f4 to exactly how I wanted it to be (glowy wide open, but sharp and clean stopped down).  I had been thinking of selling it on if the CLA didn't improve it noticeably, but now it's so good, I'm considering keeping it.  (A real bummer as I'm photographically happiest when I don't have to choose which lens of a given focal length to put on the front of the camera -- and my other 35 is the Nikkor 35/1.8 LTM which I'm truly loath to part with -- I guess I'm doomed to unhappiness?)
