Marac Posted August 19, 2018 Share #1  Posted August 19, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) With all the excitement of the new Elpro 52, I read in the thread about the older Elpro lenses for the R system, so, I got myself an Elpro 3 for £16 from ebay and a step up ring 52-55 (the older Elpro are 55mm) also go a step down ring 60-55 to use it with the 55-135 and the 35 Lux.  Leica CL / 18-56@18mm with Elpro3   Welcome, dear visitor! jaapv Posted August 19, 2018 Share #2 Â Posted August 19, 2018 It is fine, I admit, but the 18-56 will focus easily at this distance without ELPRO.
vikasmg Posted August 19, 2018 Share #3  Posted August 19, 2018 It is fine, I admit, but the 18-56 will focus easily at this distance without ELPRO.But would it blur out the background as much? - Vikas
jaapv Posted August 19, 2018 Share #4  Posted August 19, 2018 Basically, the amount of OOF blur is controlled by subject distance and aperture only. Whether using the diopter at the same distance and aperture changes the character of the blur, I don't know. Marac Posted August 19, 2018 Author Share #5 Â Posted August 19, 2018 Oh I see, it was moved to a new thread... Well, the 18-56 does not focus this close (unless you crop it close of cause) this was a test shot using the Elpro, without it then i had to pull back about 8" so it does make a difference, granted, the difference will be a lot more apparent when I put it on the 55-135 but I like wide angle portraits and the Elpro adds a little to getting in closer. Â Cheers.
jaapv Posted August 19, 2018 Share #6 Â Posted August 19, 2018 Mine focusses down to 30 cm as per specification... Actually, even a bit closer than that.

jaapv Posted August 19, 2018 Share #8 Â Posted August 19, 2018 So how close were you to this young lady? Most don't let me approach to 10 cm nowadays...
Marac Posted August 19, 2018 Author Share #9  Posted August 19, 2018 Fortunately this young lady is my Wife, I tried a shot as close as I could get without the adapter then put it on, I did not do it mathematically accurate, it was just out having lunch and playing with my new toy, I would guess approx 6-8".. it can go closer still.  Maybe the example I used did not show the closeness enough so I have attached another.  Welcome, dear visitor!
