Thoughts on the HC 100 2.2 vs. the Leica S-summicron 100?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I used the HC almost exclusively before Leica came out with the S100, and I had some time to compare them directly. Of course, the Leica is a tad better, especially wide open, but the differences are small. The HC100 is a very good lens, and even if I never used this feature, it can be used with it's central shutter (if I'm not mistaken). So if the price is an issue, go for the HC. Another lens that I loved very much on the S2 was the HC150  3.2, which i still have (but not the adapter anymore, unfortunately

Neil,

Do you use it handheld?

Any difference between Version I and Version II?

Thanks,

Rob

Rob I've done both but I find that I use a tripod most of the time and can get fantastic results at 1/100

I've never used the version 1, I have the version 2 which has the n designation after the 150 but there latest one is good for 1/2000 where as mine is good for 1/800 but about 2500 cheaper
