Flu Posted July 29, 2018 Share #41 Posted July 29, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've been down to the stores twice to buy an X1D. Once when it was first available at stores and the second time over a year later due to new firmware supposedly fixing many things. But every time I play with the camera, it changes my mind! Jeff S Posted July 29, 2018 Share #42 Posted July 29, 2018 I do not understand what you mean, Jeff. Ma faute. Sometimes I use an SWC with a ground-glass back and 90º finder and certainly the optical finder does not correspond for near-to-far scenes. How could it? Here is one SWC image that was impossible to frame with the optical finder. It was a difficult assignment I do not wish to explain. It enlarged to 40x40" rather nicely. I hope I have not hijacked the topic. I don’t know either. I just know that some accessory finders (since Andy commented about using the SWC finder on the X1D) display framing for various focal lengths differently than others. So I wondered if the change from a 22mm to a 21mm XCD lens posed any viewing/framing issues. Likely not, given the square crop he desires, but just a thought. Jeff Sorry, I cannot answer your question, Jeff. I agree from experience that a correct 22mm viewfinder would be adequate given the same aspect ratio. I struggle with viewfinders all the time when building large format cameras. Working now on a proper mask for this one. enboe Posted August 5, 2018 Share #44 Posted August 5, 2018 Sorry I'm a week late to the dance. Look at the bokeh at anything other than wide open. Hexagonal apertures do not make for the best bokeh. That's the killer for me and the X1D. Eric
