chaynes4@me.com Posted July 20, 2018 Share #1 Posted July 20, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I cannot keep the M10 sensor clean. I've been extremely careful changing lenses in the field, almost never do it, but there are always spots. Sometimes I spend 20 minutes just cleaning up fuzzy dots in Photoshop. Advertisement Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 Hi chaynes4@me.com, Take a look here Sensor Spots. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pedaes Posted July 20, 2018 Share #2 Posted July 20, 2018 Cleaning up in Photoshop will not clean the sensor. My experience with all digital Leicas is you get some internal dirt attach to sensor initially and after a short time it is just the normal odd speck, if you are careful as you describe.. Get a eyelead sensor cleaner kit (Leica and Sony model) and give the sensor a good clean. Use the dust detection feature to check you have got it all. I also use a Artic Butterfly brush for the odd spot clean. Both good investment IMHO.
jaapv Posted July 20, 2018 Share #3 Posted July 20, 2018 Welcome. Better to spend 5 minutes to clean your sensor. In the M FAQ. At the top of the M240 forum, for instance, you'll find a detailed protocol.
chaynes4@me.com Posted July 20, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted July 20, 2018 Well, yes, I know I can't clean the sensor in Photoshop. (?) I watched a Leica factory video about their technique for cleaning the sensor and I'm going to do what they do; Sensor Gel Stick, inspection with Visible Dust Sensor Loupe. Thanks for the input. Tailwagger Posted July 21, 2018 Share #5 Posted July 21, 2018 One thing to mention is that often, when I think my sensor is dirty, its actually the result of a bit of dust on the rear element of the optic. Always easier to check and clean them first.
