ihw Posted July 10, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted July 10, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can anyone help with a problem with DMR User Profiles? I have set user profiles 1-3 but if the camera switches off by sleep mode, or is turned off, the information becomes garbled on switch on. Any of the following can happen - quite randomly. Â 1) The user profile that was operating on switch-off returns correctly, or-: 2) 0 profile shows, or-: 3) User profile 1 is dislpayed, but the properties belong to profiles 2 or 3. 4) User profile 0 is displayed and all properties of other profiles are lost. Â Has anyone experienced this and if so what was the problem and how was it fixed? I don't think I am doing anything wrong, but you never know! I am using version 1.2 (installed by Solms following a different malfunction!) Any help or advice much appreciated. Ian

rsolomon Posted July 11, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted July 11, 2007 i have problems with the users profiles when running on firmware 1.1. i do switch back and forth between V1.2 and V.1.1 if i will need the profiles for my work . however V1.2 introduces other problems for me (mainly the warn monitor) and since i have no way to read dng files in the field to check exposure i switch back. Â to make a long story short leica needs a 1.3 of the firmware to straighten out these and other issues..... it seems most on the forum don't agree but that because everyone uses their camera differntly. Â bottom line: i would advise reinstalling v1.2 of the fimware, you can download it from the leica website, infact v1.1 and 1.2 are available on the site . Â let us know if that fixes the problem, good luck
mgcd Posted July 11, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted July 11, 2007 LIke many others, I am running 1.1 with no issues. As Richard mentioned it is available for download on Leica's site. Â Cheers,
dhsimmonds Posted July 11, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted July 11, 2007 Ian I am running version 1.2 firmware with my R9/DMR and so far have not discovered the problem to which you refer. Sometimes however after re-charging the battery and replacing it, the camera switches itself on even when the switch is in the off position! It usually sorts itself out whenever I next switch on and off again.......weird! Â Have you tried removing the battery and replacing it again when you get your particular problem? Â Leica owes us an upgrade in firmware to solve the problems of v1.2 in my view. Â But for all that, I never cease to admire the engineering and design of the DMR and the images of course are just gorgeous. I can put up with a slightly quirky camera for that. Â You didn't say what problem you had for your DMR to go back to Solms?

Re-installing v1.2 seems to have done the trick. (The reason the DMR went back to Solms originally was because the setting wheel would not change the settings! There were also issues of compatibility with the R8 body.) I agree with the comments on the superb image quality but I remain a little nervous of the firmware. All in all though, a brilliant camera that I wouldn't change. Again, thanks for the responses. Ian
