Guest malland Posted July 9, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 9, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've just learned that Imants Krunins ("stnami") has been banned from the forum as a result with his exchange with Guy Mancuso. Considering that Imants is one of most talented and interesting photographers here this is most unfortunate and a loss to the forum. It also seems unjust because Guy Mancuso's responses were much stronger than Imants' somewhat mild criticsm of his photographs; indeed they were completely off the scale. While I feel storngly that Imants should not have been banned, at least if the moderators should have banned Guy Mancuso as well. Certainly Imants post are often provocative, but many of them do make one think and reflect and seem to be aimed to stir things up so that more interesting exchanges and photographs will emerge. It maybe something completely different but i have nothing to do with it. Point your arrow somewhere else. I'm willing to bet that most people around here would get along OK with Imants if he were in the room, even if they can't stand him on this board. I wouldn't begrudge Guy for losing his temper--it's pretty clear if you look at the totality of Imants' contributions that he is seeking to provoke, and Guy is within his rights to tell him to sit down. I would also not ban Imants, though. The trick is to tolerate trolls as much as possible (and sometimes it is not entirely possible) on the basis that they are here because they want to be. I didn't find him or his posts provocative, in fact I found them off the wall and most made no sense at all, at least to me. But hey what do I know? I know what I like and it wasn't Stnami. I didn't read to many, if any, of the exchanges between him and Guy_M, main reason was I'd just skip over his posts because I felt reading them was a waist of my time, so I don't know what went on between the 2 of them but I do know it wasn't just the post he made in the Leica/Porsch tour thread. I do not like Stnami's posts and found them mostly destructive (not all). But who will draw the line? Nobody should be banned out of the forum. Nobody. Use the ignore-button, if you feel bothered. There must have been something floating in the wind with the mods or posts that we are just not sure about and not just a single event or two but maybe more long term issues. Mitch, where did you get the information that he was banned? His mind and mine seldom mesh; I can rarely understand his posts. I was surprised at his comments in the Leica Academy thread, but his points were all valid. I don't feel that either Guy or he went overboard in their comments there. I doubt sincerely that his opinions or the strength of their expression have brought about his expulsion, nor should they have. Remember 'magyarman'? I thought his comments were the wittiest on the forum, but some people couldn't see his humor and wanted him removed. My bet is that *this* thread will be locked within 24 hours when we all realize Imants is still here. That's also my hope. Some of you take all this too seriously and seem to have little sense of humor, to which Imants often played. I still think it's a shame to ban the best photographer around here — and my understanding is that he has been banned. Read some of Guys posts and you will see that he threatens to have me banned, especially if I say something he doesn't like . Guy and me have received a collective email from the moderators in regards to the holiday thread. My ban was 24 hours and I must be good for atleast a week. So Guy's statement is not a true version. again similiar to his being polite in private ermail, I can still post it if required, I was particulary impressed with the fs and cs. Lets not forget the buy and sell incident when he tried to undermine the forum's new section and he went ballistic when picked up on it. ROTFLmos and dismissing posts outright are a specialist area of his Painting me as black as possible is the intent and no doubt the "boy's club" will come in support as per usual . hang on it has already!! Being banned by the moderators is fair enough but I do think that it should have applied to both of us, which seems to be the main thrust of Mitch's thread ... but that's their decision so be it...... shrug Ps not worth the hassle of going in bat for me the forces of evil forever haunt the forum.............. bring back the" fly":D Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

No yellow card red card stuff and the owner just blocked probably a dozen IP addresses I've logged on his server so I could never see his site again. Have fun, folks ... this is all biggest deal.
