jefe Posted June 30, 2018 Share #1 Posted June 30, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, for the Leica Q I have an issue with programming the Fn button in Firmware 3.0 update. With firmware 3.0 installed, I am in the Menu under Customize Control with Fn Button in Live View selected and an trying to turn White Balance off and turn Self Timer on. But when I select White Balance and try to shift from On to Off, a error message comes up in red saying " active items cannot be deleted". Anyone have suggestions how to effect the desired change? Thanks, Jeff

Thanks, Jeff Hi just select on the fn button another functionality. YOu can not deselect in the menu any functionality thats currently active in the fn. Yes, is like it was programmed by people with no knowledge in software.... Edited June 30, 2018 by Malabito
DQ03 Posted June 30, 2018 Share #3 Posted June 30, 2018 Jefe, With the new Firmware, the Fn can be programmed for up to 10 functions by choosing “on” for the functions. To access a selected function, press the Fn button while turning the wheel, you will see the selected function among others.
Mike_HNL Posted July 3, 2018 Share #4 Posted July 3, 2018 Jeff, I'm experiencing the same problem and get the same error message as you when trying to eliminate White Balance from the Fn choices. Perhaps the software is programmed in a way the the White Balance option is a required one as you. Hi, for the Leica Q I have an issue with programming the Fn button in Firmware 3.0 update. Leica Guy Posted July 3, 2018 Share #5 Posted July 3, 2018 Exactly as Malabito said. Just deselect the item in the Fn menu before trying to remove it from the customize menu.
DQ03 Posted July 11, 2018 Share #6 Posted July 11, 2018 Jefe, With the new Firmware, the Fn can be programmed for up to 10 functions by choosing “on” for the functions. To access a selected function, press the Fn button while turning the wheel, you will see the selected function among others. I’d like to correct myself. The maximum number of functions for FN is 8. To choose a stored function, press FN button to show the list of functions, turn the thumb wheel to the function then press the set button.
Leica Guy Posted July 11, 2018 Share #7 Posted July 11, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Funny. I never even considered turning the thumb wheel. I always use the controller button on the back. I just learned a new little trick. Thanks.
DQ03 Posted July 11, 2018 Share #8 Posted July 11, 2018 Funny here too. I use the wheel to move up and down the menu more often than the controller button. The Q is fun to play with.
Leica Guy Posted July 11, 2018 Share #9 Posted July 11, 2018 I just tried it and now prefer that method. Kudo’s to you for the tip!
Poagao Posted January 29, 2019 Share #10 Posted January 29, 2019 I'm afraid I still don't understand...how can I set the Q up so that pressing the function button will switch the camera between EVF and LCD? I have EVF/LCD and white balance selected, because it won't let me unselect white balance for some reason, and so when I'm shooting and want to switch, I have to dive into the menus, which is annoying. In the page 3 of the Main Menu you have an option for custom buttons. Go inside and then the second option called FN Button on Live View will let you select the EVF-LCD option to ON. Poagao Posted January 31, 2019 Share #12 Posted January 31, 2019 My Q must be faulty in that case...on that menu I have EVF/LCD and white balance set to "on" and everything else off, but whenever I press the back button, it just autofocuses.
LexS Posted January 31, 2019 Share #13 Posted January 31, 2019 (edited) If you have the menu, and press and hold the FN key to display and it does not work: swith the camera off, take out the battery for 10 minutes, then put the battery in again, and switch the camera on again, push and hold the Fn key. And save in your user profile! Edited January 31, 2019 by LexS
