The help file says that when processing the image, image size can be altered using " scaling % ". I wanted to process the raw images and downsize as part of batch processing and save to another file as jpegs. Trouble is, I can't find " scaling % " anywhere in the program, in any module. I expected to find it in the processing module. Is it a feature omitted from LE and only available in the full edition ? robertwright Posted July 8, 2007 Share #4 Posted July 8, 2007 you can "scale" by exact length and width amounts, but you cannot use the percentage function in LE, at least I have not found a way to make it work. Entering any number other than 100% generates an error tone. the reason I wanted to use percentage scaling is that it respects the native resolution when up-resing, for example, printing to epson printers in whole multiples of 180, 240, 360 ppi, it would be nice to be able to open a tiff from C1 at 150% of the native res @360ppi, whatever size that is in inches, without having to work out the exact amount. In terms of seeing an actual difference, I am not sure it matters, but D Adamson was doing this in that long thread a while back, and then additionally up-resing in Blow-up. Looks like I'll have to use other software to resize unless I eventually get the full edition of Capture One. Not planning to do that anytime soon because it is rather expensive. These " extras " with the M8 like filters, coding and software do add up ........ I wonder how many M8 owners have gone ahead and bought the full edition of Capture One. Piers Posted July 9, 2007 Share #6 Posted July 9, 2007 You can scale % in C1 LE, but it is a bit weird: in process tool, under SCALE select "fixed", type in chosen %, THEN IMMEDIATELY SELECT 'TO WIDTH': you will see output size at the top changes to reflect your selection and you can go ahead and process... That said, I find Genuine Fractals best for upscaling; I considered full C1 but it will not process Adobe DNG files (useful for non supported cameras and using DNG Recover Edges software). I'm told a future version will rectify this. As I said elsewhere I find M8 Raw processed by C1 LE better than by Adobe Camera Raw in CS2. Best. A serious oversite IMHO. OTOH, it is probably deliberate, to steer us towards the Pro version. But for $400 odd just to have scaling, Phase One have to be joking. A new version (4) is rumoured. Does anyone know when? It needs to address some basic convenience for users other than tethered MF digital backs if they want our business. I was told in April by one of the UK Capture 1 reps. (http://www.directdigitalimaging.com) the V4 would be along in (then) 2-3 months, so I guess is imminent?: C1 website not informative! Last year the plan was to ship Release 4 LE in the spring of 2007 and Pro in the summer. And there are quite a few promised features that I would like to have. The sudden wealth of raw developer products and some key personnel losses set them back, and they have shipped only free upgrades for about two years now, so Phase One really needs to do this right. Past experience would lead me to add at least half a year to both promises, so I expect to start to hear about Release 4 with the favored few getting early versions to write reviews about perhaps in the early Fall.
