Yep. I noticed that. OTOH, focus peaking makes the 120 a lot more useable. The 210 never AF'd well on my 006. I don't have one anymore, but with the 007 it would work. Only problem is, without IS, magnified LV on a 210mm lens would require a tripod.

My problem with the 210 was only at infinity. I recently got a 180 S and it also is a bit random at nailing infinity focus. Frankly, I would go for the SL+90-280 if I really wanted to work at the telephoto end. The 006 is brilliant with anything from the 120 to the 24.

Is that a contrast vs phase detection issue? And possibly the reason why the Contax adapter and lenses aren't supported for the (T)L mount?

Makes sense, but it's still strange since the only thing the lens has to do is focus forward/backward and then fine tune... just like with the normal autofocus chip.

I suppose it depends on what information is sent to the lens. Does the camera tell the lens "rotate 14.27 degrees" or does it tell the lens "phase difference -1.049" and let the lens take it from there? I could see Leica implementing the conversion calculation for its own lenses but not doing the same for adapted lenses.

Thank you all for the input. It's indeed a strange issue, I guess at the time Leica released the adapter the future option of liveview wasn't taken into consideration.

It's even more likely that Contax didn't anticipate liveview when they designed their 645 system in the 1990s.
