stunsworth Posted August 6, 2006 Share #1 Posted August 6, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) A shot from this afternoon. As the day went on the weather deteriorated. This is on the recently restored pier in the town of Bangor in North Wales. You can see the island of Angelsey on the left, the mainland on the right. The kids were fishing for crabs, though I haven't a clue what they would have done if they'd caught any. Canon 5D, 28mm Elmarit. Welcome, dear visitor! semrich Posted August 6, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 6, 2006 Steve, Very nice. The light has lent itself to some very nice tones, especially to the metalic hand rail, kind of like a CS2 plastic wrap effect. Richard

jopa5800 Posted August 8, 2006 Share #5 Posted August 8, 2006 In spite of my name English isn’t my mother tongue so please overlook my mistakes graciously. In 1998 I visited an old schoolmate of mine who emigrated to Wales and worked as a general practitioner on Anglesey. On my way back to London (and from there to Germany), I decided merely out of a whim to stay for 2 days in Bangor. I stayed at the Eryl Mor Hotel which "offers stunning views of Bangor Pier and the Menai Strait". So thanks for sharing your beautifull pictures and thus reviving my memories. stunsworth Posted August 8, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted August 8, 2006 Jonathan, your written English was perfect, I wish my German was 10% as good! There was a hotel just before the pier a little higher up a gentle hill. I wonder if that was the hotel? I'm glad that the image brought back memories for you. To be honest I use the net (i.e. Google, online dictionaries etc.) quite heavily to mask my poor skills ;-) Yes, that was the Eryl Mor Hotel. Later I was told that it is the best hotel in Bangor. Unfortunately I had to leave after one night because the other day started a swimming contest and all hotels were fully booked for the rest of the week. They have a nice website: http://www.erylmorhotel.com/ Regards jopa
