evikne Posted May 9, 2018 Share #1 Posted May 9, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I have never really figured out how I can quote a post and get one line break between the quoted text and my own text. It looks fine when I write in the reply text box. The cursor is placed two lines below the quoted text (one blank line), as expected. But after posting, one extra line has appeared. It’s not a big thing, but I don’t think it looks so nice with this extra space. But if I make a quote and start with deleting one line break, the result is no line break at all, which is even more "ugly". So whatever I do, it will be wrong. I guess this has something to do with the change between the formatting of the quoted text and the reply text? Sometimes I have got it right, but I don’t remember exactly what I did. Is there an easy way to do this? Edited May 9, 2018 by evikne

Gibbo Posted May 9, 2018 Share #5 Posted May 9, 2018 I'm using Safari. When I click the Quote button a new post window opens and the cursor is positioned directly under the quote. I press return once then type my reply. In the first example I pressed return twice. Does it behave differently for you?

I am sure it sometimes comes with a blank line above. Edit: Even with no space when posting, I got one extra line in the final reply (as I want). Michael Geschlecht Posted May 9, 2018 Share #7 Posted May 9, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Evikne, Welcome to the Forum. With the cursor all of the way to the left margin of the line that you want to move: Just "click" the "Backspace" key to move higher up if you have "clicked" the "Enter" key too many times & your line is too far down. Best Regards, Michael Edited May 9, 2018 by Michael Geschlecht

Best Regards, Michael The problem is that the posted reply often look different from what I see in the editor. An extra space may appear or disappear. I still don't know why. But the easiest and safest solution is probably to click Preview Post before I add a reply. Edited May 9, 2018 by evikne

Hello Evikne, What I do when the Post does not appear the way I would like it to, is to "click' the "Edit" icon in the lower right corner of the Post that I have just submitted & adjust the text to what I would like it to be. You can "click" the "Edit" icon any number of times that you would like, within the first 1/2 hour or so after you have submitted that individual Post, in order to move things around or to change what you have written. I often do this type of editing because: Where I write from there is an unreliable WiFi signal & if I wait too long to send in my Post: What I am writing sometimes simply disappears. If what I have written has already arrived at the Thread it was meant to be in, then I can edit the text a number of times without worrying about my Post disappearing.
