Just bought an MP. This is from my first roll. Processed it like a digital image—don't think that's the right approach. 35mm Summilux, orange filter, TriX.

First, great image.  I'm curious, what do you mean by, "Processed it like a digital image—don't think that's the right approach."?

Thanks for asking. I changed the image too much from what it looked like in the original scan. I darkened and blurred the background, brought up the shadows on her dress, cloned out a bright white stripe on the jacket on the door, stretched the histogram to increase contrast, and added a light vignette. I feel like doing all that work in post kind of defeats the purpose of shooting film. I'm going to try to have a lighter touch with my next roll.

Hi David - this is a stunning image!  Thanks for sharing.

Really hate to be that guy, (I know it is the photographer not the tools that are responsible for the image) but, what lens and scanner did you use?

Hi j.scooter !

thank you for your appreciation! I took this photo with a voigtlander 35mm 1.4 Nokton mc II and the scanner should be an epson v800 but I'm not sure because they scanned it from my trusted lab.

This makes me want to buy an APO-Summicron 50 and I have never had a desire to own one. The pop is insane. Probably just get the APO-Lanthar.

The band was doing their very first Internet chat with Lycos - they did it at their studio in Seattle. They had just released the album “Binaural”, I worked for their label and set it up with my team and we were there to make sure it went off properly. Brought my M6 with me to document it, something I rarely did working with artists because it was not my job to do so and you always want artists to be comfortable. But I’m very glad I brought it this time. I have several other pictures from this day, I think this one was the best.
