I worked on editing a documentary that was shot in Svalbard about the effects of the melting ice. It's not complete, and will likely never be. The client wants to scrap it, unfortunately. We're working to try to get him to change his mind or release it to us to finish as we like.

I really hope you succeed in getting the film made and released.  Not only is Svalbard a haven for polar bears, but the international Seedbank was placed there due to the 'permafrost' providing an ideal place for preservation of important potential crop seeds.  If the ice is melting that is something of importance.  Good luck!

A Shrine to Mammon

In the middle of the seventies the old, the charachteristic Grand Hotel in Östersund (Sweden) was demolished - much against the unanimous will of the town´s citizens...

- Now is one of the hotel´s corner towers found, and has been placed in a little square in the pedestrian zone...

Just in time for Halloween - but to me is the loss of this remarkable ancient hotel not just something you have forgotten the next week - like Halloween
My picture below was taken with my Leica M6, 21 mm f3.4 Super Angulon lens and Fuji 400 Color negative film.

Hope you are successful in finishing the Svalbard-project....The glacier I shot with my M6 (Recherchefjord, Recherchebreen) earlier extended to the fjord... now there is a lagoon. Svalbard and other parts of the arctic are melting.... We will be back to Svalbard august 2024 to circumnavigate and hopefully still see the arctic and the ice....

That’s pretty impressive! I’ve had reasonable results with caffenol, but never this neat. What’s your scanning setup ? Looks super

Many thanks!
Just posted about this in the film forum actually.  Nikon D800E with 200 f/4 micro, on Novoflex rail / diy stand; Negative Supply Pro 135 roller thing on light panel. Further editing in ACR/photoshop.
Tonality is great, grain fairly large but manageable.

Ah OK.  Im using a Pentax K1 with an ancient "Lester Dine 105mm dental lens" - and no copy stand.  It has such a narrow depth of field that being out of alignment by the tiniest amount puts half the frame out of focus. It's great for "character" shots, but I need better precision for scanning.  Time to build a copy stand :)
