Guest Posted April 19, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 19, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone on here tried a Hasselblad HC Lens on there Leica S body...........HC300mm in particular. My Leica S120 and S70 are a no brainer to use on the Soo7 body but I wondered if anyone has used the longer lenses and also the HC50 II as I really don't like the IQ of my S30mm so thinking that maybe my HC50 II would maybe work better. If anyone has any pictures that would be fantastic Neil

albireo_double Posted April 19, 2018 Share #2 Posted April 19, 2018 (edited) Hi, I use the HC 300mm on the S007. Not very often because it is a bit long in the studio and a bit heavy to carry outside unless I have a specific image in mind. Allows for more compression/separation from background than the 180mm. I recently posted this image taken with this lens on S007 in another section of this forum. I don't have much to say about the lens other than: (i) it is well sharp for my purposes from wide open (image below), (ii) it is reasonably compact and not too heavy for what it is (compared eg to the Contax 350), (ii) behaves on the S007 just like any Leica S lens - fast AF, full exif info, leaf shutter sync, profile in Lightroom. Fabulous mate just fabulous...............I cant wait to get home and try it out. My H6D100c is in Phuket and my Leica Soo7 is in KL so my first 2 weeks at home I will be shooting this lens on my Leica S, the next week I will be in Phuket so I will get to try it on its native body........I will then be able to do a comparison between the S and H bodies................I will look forward to that. kparseg Posted April 19, 2018 Share #4 Posted April 19, 2018 Are you guys using 1/2000sec sync HC lenses with Leica S? Would the adapter let you use them, and if so, are you still getting 1/800sec sync speed?

albireo_double Posted April 20, 2018 Share #9 Posted April 20, 2018 My lens is the older version, with 1/800s max sync speed. There was a debate here some time ago about Hasselblad changing the firmware on the new lenses (and any older lenses undergoing repair) to render them unusable on the Leica S adapter. But I haven't seen anybody commenting on this from real experience. Neil, can you try your 100/20.2 orange dot with the adapter and let us know if it works? Thx.

In addition to this, would you (Neil) mind taking paired pictures from both 007 and H6D using 100mm f2.2? I know you mentioned a few times that H6D has much better IQ vs. 007, but I'd love to see paired pics side by side. Thanks.

Guest Posted May 8, 2018 Share #13 Posted May 8, 2018 I tried my HC300mm on my S yesterday and the AF is super fast and accurate. I tried the 1.7 TC as well but the S007 doesn't like it and won't work with it attached. Tomorrow I will go and take some shots with the S007 with the HC300mm attached Pictures to follow Neil

FlashGordonPhotography Posted May 12, 2018 Share #17 Posted May 12, 2018 I just tested my HC lenses on the 007. All worked fine. They all have the latest firmware (via the X1D). The fire in CS mode at all speeds and change to the mechanical shutter over 1/2000. So now my HC lenses work on both the 007 and X1D. I have the 24, 100, 150 and 210. The 210 is a 1/800th lens. Gordon mate my HC 300 works fantastic. I’m Looking forward taking all my HC lenses to malaysia in two weeks time and try them on the S007 . On safari I will use my HC150 and HC50 on the Soo7 as a backup and a wide angle option to the H6D100c Neil
FlashGordonPhotography Posted May 14, 2018 Share #19 Posted May 14, 2018 Nice. You'll get a bit more reach as well (abeit with lower resolution). I have a trip to Namibia in August. Mostly landscape but a bit of wildlife. The 300 is tempting but I have the Sony A7R3 and 100-400 (plus teleconverters) as my long lens solution. I just don't think I'd use it enough (the 300). But if the local importer has a special on it...... haha. Gordon
