robgo2 Posted April 16, 2018 Share #1 Â Posted April 16, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have recently been acquiring R lenses for use on my Leica SL and have been highly impressed by their construction, feel and optical performance. Now I am thinking of getting a 35mm lens, and I would like opinions on the Summicron 35 f2 (vII). Is this a good all-around lens that would be suitable for street, landscapes, portraits etc, or is it more of a specialist? Are there any other R lenses that I might consider or even M lenses? Â Thanks, Rob
Advertisement Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 Hi robgo2, Take a look here Summicron-R 35 on SL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jip Posted April 17, 2018 Share #2 Â Posted April 17, 2018 The Summicron-M 1:2/35mm ASPH. is a better lens, but also much more expensive... Â The latest Summicron-R 1:2/35mm is great lens however and the great thing about it compared to M lenses is that it focusses much closer! Â Also take a look at the Elmarit-R 1:2.8/28mm V2 which is amazing!
earleygallery Posted April 17, 2018 Share #3 Â Posted April 17, 2018 I have the V1 Summicron R 35. One of my favourites.
robgo2 Posted April 17, 2018 Author Share #4 Â Posted April 17, 2018 I just pulled the string on an EX+ V2 lens. I do not expect that it will be as technically perfect as later ASPH lenses, but I like the look of Mandler glass.
gbealnz Posted April 19, 2018 Share #5 Â Posted April 19, 2018 I have one, and use it on my (film) SL. It's heavy though, quite heavy. I did have an SL (601) for a short time, and used both the 35/2 and the 50/2 (both R) on it, real nice to use. As Jip says, it focuses quite close.
