nor Posted April 9, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 9, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone? Can anyone tell me what part this is and is it supposed to look like that? Also, is that fungus on the shutter curtain? Thank you! Welcome, dear visitor! ckuwajima Posted April 10, 2018 Share #2 Posted April 10, 2018 That would be the lightmeter photocell. And yes, I see mold on the shutter curtain.
nor Posted April 10, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted April 10, 2018 That would be the lightmeter photocell. And yes, I see mold on the shutter curtain. Will I need to CLA asap? And what looks like a build up of some sort on the lightmeter photocell, is that mold too?
ckuwajima Posted April 10, 2018 Share #4 Posted April 10, 2018 It happens that I sent for CLA a M6 TTL that looked just as yours, with white specks all over inside the camera and I just received it back. It is clean, all black inside, except for the photocell pads. I was told that probably the former owner stored the camera in a damp environment, leading to oxidation of the camera parts. Mold is a serious threat to all your gear, IMHO you should sent it for cleaning ASAP.

250swb Posted April 11, 2018 Share #6 Posted April 11, 2018 Also, is that fungus on the shutter curtain? A lot of older Leica's have such stains and it doesn't necessarily mean it's actual mold, it could simply be the stain left by mold after it's died. If you haven't got "white specks all over the inside" or fungus in the viewfinder I really wouldn't panic, just use the camera.
