Sure, I will do a comparison between those two lenses.

The character of the 75 Noctilux is more similar to the 50mm Noctilux but has hints of the 75mm Summilux

Thanks for writing the review... but did you really mean to write that the 50 noct is sharper than the 75 noct? That’s backwards compared to my experience with the two lenses— in my hands at least the 75 noct is ridiculously sharp at all apertures corner to corner, while the 50 noct is sharp in the center but has strong field curvature at wife aperture away from the center. Even if I focus with LV, the 75 noct is substantially sharper than the 50 noct away from the center.

My impressions are that the 75 is quite a bit sharper but the 50 noct is “dreamier” in its rendering. And of course gathering photons at 50/0.95 is quite a bit more effective than 75/1.25, so when light is very scarce, the 50 still does better at holding image quality.

Also to my eyes the 75 noct holds contrast more capably than the 50 noct. Different impressions to different people, I suppose.

Thanks for replying.

I meant both lenses are with similar clinical sharpness but I agreed when zoomed in photos especially wide open that the Leica 75mm Noctilux has th edge over the 50mm Noctilux, I think Leica has updated their optics and lens design resulting an even more stunning and sharper lens.

I think contrast is down to the cameras that been used, I found on the M10 the contrast is lower than on M9/M240, but this maybe due to the setting or lens profile, which I am still tweaking to get the best results out of the 75mm Noctilux.

Well I am glad that these wide lenses are getting cleaner wide open. But the price is a real obstacle. I tried a 75mm Summilux in the shop and was hard pushed to see a difference from the 75mm Summicron SL. I was surprised. My Nikon lenses of the period would not have held up so well.
