nitrox1 Posted March 27, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 27, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just got this little gem in today from B&H. Preliminary shots around the house are telling me I’m going to absolutely positively love this guy. Small, lightweight, minimal vf encroachment, wonderful screw on hood, quick focus, positive aperture clicks, banging sharp. Zone focusing works like a charm using f11. I did a mega crop on a dng pic of my dog in LR and couldn’t believe the detail remaining in the shot afterwards. Here’s the dog shot, and of course the new 28mm on my m10. Steve Caddy Posted March 28, 2018 Share #2 Posted March 28, 2018 Yeah, it's a real gem.
Simon Posted March 28, 2018 Share #3 Posted March 28, 2018 (edited) It’s probably the first lens I would recommend to new M shooters if I worked for Leica (but sadly they didn’t want me). Edited March 28, 2018 by Simon
B-A-C Posted March 28, 2018 Share #4 Posted March 28, 2018 Lovely lens. The new hood is a honker. I'd rather go without hood for size reasons. Congrats.
nitrox1 Posted March 28, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted March 28, 2018 So far I have 50 Cron, 50 Elmar, and 28 elmarit. In the future I’d like to add a 90 and maybe a 21. But 90 will for sure be next. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
roger_1987 Posted March 28, 2018 Share #6 Posted March 28, 2018 I don't use the hood as the lens is nearly flare free. Mine has a somewhat problematic aperture ring which occasionally will click at the position of 1/3 of a stop before it goes to 1/2 stop positions. I may need to send it to leica. Good to know about the flare resistance. Leaving the hood behind would darn near half the size of the lens. Herr Barnack Posted March 28, 2018 Share #8 Posted March 28, 2018 The 28mm Elmarit is a truly outstanding lens and is a screaming good deal at its assigned price. In my view, if a person were to have only one wide angle lens for their M camera(s), this would have to be it.
