tom0511 Posted July 5, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Recent discussions made me wonder about the "character" of different 50mm lenses. So I took the following lenses and shot the same scene from wide open up to f4.0. I used a (bad) tripod. The following lenses: 50/1.0 50/1.4asph 50/2.0 Made in Canada (without IR-Filter) 50/2.8 current version Trielmar at 50mm (which is obviosly a little shorter focal length than the 50primes I have) Some of theimages I shot twice with slight focus variation. For some reason I think there are still some slight differences in focus, so this might be more about bokeh and rendering and not so much about sharpness. The images can be found here: 50s_on_m8_ Photo Gallery by TOM at pbase.com I shot another subject and might post these later if anybody is interested Cheers, Tom
Advertisement Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 Hi tom0511, Take a look here 50s comparison shots (Noct, Lux,Cron, Elarit, TE). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
volkerhopf Posted July 5, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 5, 2007 Hi Tom, May I ask what you mean with TE 50 being obviously shorter than the others? Thanks and regards Volker
tom0511 Posted July 5, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted July 5, 2007 I mean the 50mm of the TE seems to have a shorter effective focal length than the Leica 50 primes. I know the primes are more like ca. 52mm, the TE might be 50 or even a little less. The TE at 50 is a bit wider than the primes (atleast my sample).
