the second, in which the bridge is in sharper focus and you used a vertical orientation both of which serve your subject better

the first is more aptly titled Rocks Near the Forth Rail Bridge & I find the bridge a far more interesting subject

(I could not help but think of the dangers of the third rail when I saw this title:) )

lovely BW, btw with a sweet sky

I personally think that the horizontal format of the 1st picture suits the motive better, but I also believe that the focus point in the 2nd one is better because of the bridge and the vivid sky. Therefore a mixture betwenn both would be my preference. So, all in all, I agree to the posts before that the 2nd is my favorite.

Hi Sean,

just because you asked (I am not intending to pretend to be an expert, I am just a bloody amateur), I still think the panoramic format could be better. The last shot imho shows some potential, but I think the rock is too dominant. If I imagine the location from the various pictures, I guess that there is the little rock behind the bigger one. Just a guess, but perhaps the same position as in the vertical format could have resultet in something like that (just for demo purposes, a slightly higher position still could have beneficial because the rock is imho still too distracting). But, as I said, just a guess ...
