I find that I can take about 90% of the photos that I would like to with a 35mm, F2 Summicron & it takes a bunch of other lenses & gadgets for the other 10% or so. So I can understand your lens choice. Sometimes less is more. You should have a good time travelling around. And you don't have to worry about what the weather might be. Speaking of weather, how is it there in Melbourne? Here at the Latitude of Lop Nor it is still cold, especially at nite.
