abrewer Posted July 4, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 4, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Question from someone who hasn't taken the M8 leap yet, and can't fully discern from the M8 manual online... Can you do auto-exposure bracketing with the M8? That is, set up three consecutive exposures (-2, 0, +2) to fire automatically (whilst holding the shutter release button down) with the camera? That would be shooting RAW files in Adobe RGB color space, by the way. Thanks. Allan

robsteve Posted July 4, 2007 Share #3 Posted July 4, 2007 Allan: The M8 will not do automatic exposure bracking. From my experience, it is easier to just put the camera on manual and shoot three shots moving either the shutter speed or aperture manually. Here are the problems I found with AEB on both the DMR and Canon EOS: 1.) The camera shakes too much with the three consecutive exposures using the motor drive on continous. You can't use mirror prefire in this mode. 2.) If shooting the three on single frame mode of the motor drive, you can loose track of where you are in the sequence and your next composition may start with the the AEB still working on your last series. larry Posted July 4, 2007 Share #4 Posted July 4, 2007 Allan, I happily used the auto-bracketing feature regularly with my Contax RTS III and G1 and found it to be a necessity in difficult lighting situations. But I haven't missed this feature even once with the M8. Despite some opinions to the contrary, I find the M8's meter to be predictable and easy to use.
