darylgo Posted February 20, 2018 Share #1  Posted February 20, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I received my new 24-90mm yesterday and started testing it both for close and far distance. My tests were quick so maybe not conclusive but I am seeing an unusual characteristic.  At f8, normally a prime aperture, my sample shows less acuity in center than at f5.6 and f4.  This was consistent for both 24mm and 90mm.  Has anyone else found this on their lens or do I have a poor sample?
Advertisement Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Hi darylgo, Take a look here 24-90mm IQ. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tom0511 Posted February 20, 2018 Share #2 Â Posted February 20, 2018 I havent. Do you maybe have a longer exposure time at f8.0 and therefore more room for shake?
darylgo Posted February 20, 2018 Author Share #3  Posted February 20, 2018 I havent. Do you maybe have a longer exposure time at f8.0 and therefore more room for shake? Tom, that may be the issue, my first tests were with OIS on and exposures were in the range of 1/8-1/2 second (tripod mounted) where shake could be an issue.  Further tests with flash and tripod-mounted (non OIS) showed the same results, however it was very minimal image degradation in this scenario. Another possibility is focus shift at f8, I don't believe I would need to refocus at each set aperture, the camera focus' at full aperture afaik.
