Paul J Posted January 24, 2018 Share #2 Â Posted January 24, 2018 (edited) The pictures and writings of Jono are always a welcome sight. In this case they are also proving disastrous to my bank account. I want that lens. Edited January 24, 2018 by Paul J
johnbuckley Posted January 25, 2018 Share #3 Â Posted January 25, 2018 Thank you, Thorsten, for surfacing Jono's lovely write-up. Â Jono's pictures are, as always, wonderful. Â And he has captured why I am trading in my 50 Noctilux (0.95) and 75 APO Summicron to get somewhere close to the money needed to acquire the 75 Noctilux. Â Jono refers to it as a specialist lens, and it is. Â A Noctilux is, for me, a specialist lens. Â (Unlike Thorsten, I don't have the Nocti on my camera the majority of the time. Â It is used in certain circumstances only.) At the same time, the75mm focal length is, for me, a specialist lens. Â I already have three 50s, including the 50 SL Summilux, and I use all three in different situations. Â Trading in the 50 Noctilux + giving up my existing 75 enables me to use the 75 Noctilux as what it in fact is: a specialty lens, not competing with another 50 for use, but as a particular tool for particular circumstances. Â Jono's illustrated those circumstances nicely.
