Astropap Posted January 21, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 21, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) For those of you who select DNG + Monochrome jpg, which settings do you like the best for the jpg? I'd like to achieve similar results to what I get from the high contrast B&W in the X Vario. Thanks
Advertisement Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Hi Astropap, Take a look here B&W settings?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
SonomaBear Posted January 21, 2018 Share #2 Posted January 21, 2018 I set contrast and sharpness to medium high. Then add a bit of grain in LR. Reminds me of my Tri-X days!

Astropap Posted January 23, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted January 23, 2018 Another question, which I think was addressed in another thread but I can't find it. Is there a way to set the EVF to color when the JPG is set to monochrome? I'm going to be taking the camera out to the ski slopes and I often use manual focus. I'd like to be able to see the focus peaking colors. Thanks Amy
Astropap Posted January 23, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted January 23, 2018 OK -- I found the post about cycling through using the center button of the D pad and got the color view. However, I lose the level even though I have that setting turned on. Also lose the grid lines until I depress the shutter button. Any way to have the EVF be in color and keep the level and grid lines when I have the jpg setting on monochrome?

That way in manual focus the focus peaking shows up in color and is easy to see. Live View - Level gauge on. Grid - on. There are four display modes selectable from the center button on the controller. On my camera two of the settings show the level. Two do not. marchyman Posted January 24, 2018 Share #8 Posted January 24, 2018 I'd like to be able to see the focus peaking colors. Thanks Amy You still see the focus peaking colors when the camera jpg setting > saturation is set to monochrome Sometimes it's easier to see the peaking that way. At least its easier for me when using red as the peaking indicator color.

If you are in monochrome, and cycle through settings with the centre button, you will get one setting showing colours and no grid. Thats when you hit video setting. Astropap Posted January 24, 2018 Author Share #10 Posted January 24, 2018 Thanks. I set it back to monochrome but with red focus peaking. I think that should be easiest to see outdoors against snow.
