tek498 Posted January 21, 2018 Share #1  Posted January 21, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been trying with various HDMI cables and settings to get my SL to record 4K over HDMI with my external recorder the PIX-E5 without success. The PIX-E5 seems to always defaults to 1080/10bit but accurately matches the 4K setting frame rate.  According to the video recording specification the SL should be able to record in 10Bit;  3840x2160p @ 25 and 30 fps 4096x2160p @ 24 fps   I didn't think it was the HDMI cable since its digital signal its either on or off, perhaps I am missing a setting somewhere or the PIX-E5 is the limitation, If you have the same setup and found a way to get 4K, it would be great if you can confirm.  Your help on this it would be appreciated,  Thanks. scott kirkpatrick Posted January 22, 2018 Share #3  Posted January 22, 2018 (edited) Leica Store Miami sells Video Devices gear incuding the Pix-E5 for hdmi output and they use it with SLs for their video blog. You could contact them for SL-specific questions.   One issue that I haven't seen clearly resolved is whether having or not having SD chips in the camera affects the HDMI output. The instruction manual suggests that it does.  Other users claim that it does not. And it is not so easy to tell if you just shoot and show. Michael Hodges Posted January 23, 2018 Share #6 Â Posted January 23, 2018 Good luck. Â I haven't had any problems doing 4k so hopefully it's just a setup issue.
BernardC Posted January 23, 2018 Share #7 Â Posted January 23, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) This video shows how to configure the SL for Atomos recorders: Â vimeo.com/180687684 Â The camera menu setup, which starts around 1:35, should be the same for any 4K recorder. Have a look, see if you've missed something. Edited January 23, 2018 by BernardC
tek498 Posted January 24, 2018 Author Share #8  Posted January 24, 2018 Found the issue;  The issue was related to the HDMI cables used, although the same cables work fine with cameras like GH5 or Sony FS5 at 4K, the Leica SL did not. The cable that worked with the SL at 4K is the AtomoFlex HDMI type A coiled from Atomos part# ATOM4K60C5.  Thank you for your support. Tony
