Mr.Q Posted January 15, 2018 Share #61 Posted January 15, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I came across your flickr page and it seems you're selling the SL too? Coincidentally I've recently acquired a gently used Noctilux .95 along with a Visoflex 020 for my M10. No regrets!

I made a decision to sell the SL and 90-280, and keep all my M lenses for the M10 the black out time is a little punishing with the visoflex 020 - but it helped when faced with strong stage lights that kept changing.
Mr.Q Posted January 16, 2018 Share #63 Posted January 16, 2018 I see, so no Nocti?
IkarusJohn Posted January 16, 2018 Share #64 Posted January 16, 2018 I made a decision to sell the SL and 90-280, and keep all my M lenses for the M10 the black out time is a little punishing with the visoflex 020 - but it helped when faced with strong stage lights that kept changing. Good decision, Dan. There's no real point in keeping the SL if you have an M10, unless there are clear reasons for it - AF, zooms or using larger M lenses that really work better on the SL (of which the Noct is one - it's not that it's bad on the M, it's just better on the SL). I went the other way - I don't have a colour M any more, so the SL is my primary colour camera, and Monochrom and M-A my B&W cameras. If you have the 50 Summilux-M, the justification for the Noctilux is a little thin ... (I have both, but that was just G.A.S. - not that I regret it) Cheers John

Alistairm Posted February 3, 2018 Share #66 Posted February 3, 2018 Dan As a gear junkie, I have among other things an M10, SL and three 50mm lenses: the 50 APO, Noctilux and an SL 50. They are all awesome, but my rambling observations are: 1. The SL50 is the best of the lot in terms of IQ... although slow to focus. 2. You have the SL already. The Nocti is a much easier lens to shoot at 0/95 and also much easier to handle on the SL than on an M10. 3. The APO50 is great. It is small and light, sharp, renders shadows and highlights beautifully and is just a cracking bit of glass. 4. Keep your SL. What's not to like about a Leica body that works brilliantly with M, R, S, R, SL and TL lenses, amongst other great traits? 5. Despite having three expensive 50mm lenses I query how much you will use two at the same time... but if you love the 50mm focal length you owe it to yourself to at least rent or borrow a 50SL to see what it does on your SL body before you sell it. It is a staggeringly good bit of glass.

It is a staggeringly good bit of glass. Currently trying to sell 24mm 1.4 and 90 2.0, but no one's buying - even when i put them at bargain prices for mint lenses. (£2995 and £1795) When I sell I will use the money to fund a 24-90 and leave it at that for now - I've got a bunch of photography work coming in march, so I think the 24-90 will help a lot. So I will end up with M10 + 35/50 1.4 asphs SL + two zooms Q

Ah I had the 50SL, and sold it (lost no money either!) - because I couldn't rely on the AF usage at weddings, and went to the Leica-M 50mm 1.4 because at least I'd have good manual control all the time, and never try to use an AF that might not work. Yep - the AF is a serious let down. I've learned to work with it, but hope for a firmware imrprovement. At the moment, IQ is brilliant but if the lens hunts it is so slow you will miss the shot unless it is posed! And the 50 Lux renders gorgeous photos in its own right!
