Hi there

I wondered if I could ask for some advice from members of this forum.  I am selling a SL lens and have agreed a price with a buyer from mainland Europe/overseas (I am in UK).  The buyer will pay direct into my bank account and I will ship insured. I have an address, but no contact number.

Is it safe to proceed, or should I be concerned?  One slight concern is that the potential buyer is new to the forum and has no history, so I cannot check previous activity, etc.

Any advice would be welcome.

What is the problem? You get your money - you ship the lens. Insured, tracking, decent contact with the buyer about the shipping process etc. You can even use a witness that you actually put the lens into the parcel.

Once the money is in the bank you are fine ..... insured and tracked is an added safety net.

You have to start somewhere on the forum ..... many spend years 'just looking' without ever having joined.

More worrying is eBay buyers/sellers with no track record......

..... just had an email from Ivor at Red Dot Cameras to say the lens he bought from me a month ago is up for sale on eBay again ....... someone has just copied all the previous listing details.

No doubt they will be wanting payment via Western Union to 'avoid eBay fees'  ..........
