Huu Posted December 12, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 12, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello. I've been admiring all the wonderful photos on this site and reading to blog for awhile now hoping to retire into my photography soon. With this in mind I bought two R4S's since they came with three wonderful lenses but became quite distraught when on my first outing one of the cameras had this incredibly long shutter lag. Bummer. What do I do? I know the cost of professional camera CLA is not worth doing on this camera that runs on EBay about $100. My friend suggested I tear into it myself and see if I can fix the problem. Has anyone had this problem and what did you do? Where did you go to learn about fixing it yourself if this is what you did? Any help would be appreciated. Help... wagner Posted December 13, 2017 Share #2 Posted December 13, 2017 Morning Leland! The shuter lag problematic was already discussed here in the forum. For example here: https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/277573-re-shutter-release-delay/ Regards, Torsten
SilentShutter Posted December 13, 2017 Share #3 Posted December 13, 2017 I remember the Leica R4 series had som issues. Never had something like that if I remember correctly with my R3-R7-R8 ?
wagner Posted December 13, 2017 Share #4 Posted December 13, 2017 Well, the R4 series had the most issues, because it's the oldest modell... (but that doesn't mean, that all R4 cameras must have a bad shutter delay. My 2 R4 have no noticeable delay) All cameras from The R4 -R7 have got the same mirror damping system. Since the R7 is the newest modell, it's obviousliy not that prone to that defect.
Huu Posted December 13, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted December 13, 2017 Thanks all for your comments. After posting I found the prior post about the delay. I believe I'll look for an R7 as well as reread and implement suggestions in the prior post. I am so inspired by the photos shared from many of you and look to the day I can devote more time to exploring this new way of seeing light and catching it on BW film....digital too.
