I felt that the screw mount rendered slightly softer, and for me, better. My thoughts are that the "bubble bokeh" is not what makes the Thambar interesting and is in fact a rather annoying side effect which sometimes shows it’s ugly face. There is nothing else remotely similar to the Thambar in the rendering I can see in example images. There was another brand (German IIRC) famous for this sort of gimmick. They had some crowd funded rereleases a few years ago but it turned out to be a scam. I’ve said it before, more than once. If you want Thambar photos, get a Thambar.
