shutterpete Posted December 5, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 5, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) (SORRY TITLE SHOULD READ M8.2 It would be useful to have a tilting viewfinder when I am taking low level shots. The Leica EVF2 is quite expensive at £250/550 used&new. I understand there is an Olympus version, would this be suitable on the M8.2 camera? Thanks Edited December 5, 2017 by shutterpete
Advertisement Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Hi shutterpete, Take a look here EVF2 viewfinder alternative please for my M2.8?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted December 5, 2017 Share #2 Posted December 5, 2017 The M 8.2 does not take an EVF. It lacks the physical interface and the electronics could never support it. The first Leica M to do so is the M240.
Jeff S Posted December 5, 2017 Share #3 Posted December 5, 2017 The M8 and M9 series are CCD based sensors, not CMOS, which is required for live view or EVF based viewing. There is an M angle VF, however... https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/382642-REG/Leica_12531_Angle_Viewfinder_M.html?c3api=0980%2C144904813854&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsKeGjNzx1wIVj4qzCh2S-weqEAAYASAAEgKRzfD_BwE Jeff
tobey bilek Posted December 6, 2017 Share #4 Posted December 6, 2017 Buy a real visoflex made from around 1960 to 1985. Viso 1 has a great 45 degree finder, but can not be used on 11 or 111. http://www.butkus.org/chinon/leica/leitz_visoflex_iii/leitz_visoflex_iii.htm The straight chimney allows low to ground work and if you mask correctly, perfect composition and focus. Focus is excellent , much better than any EVF. These work with lenses 65 mm and longer if you buy the ones with detachable optical units for infinity to close up. Shorter ones get more magnification, but can not focus to infinity. Dan Tamarin has a nice vid on you tube with viso 3 and 90 mm. That 90 however does not have a detachable optical unit so it will not reach infinity. Use a 90 Elmarit for that. NOT TELE ELMARIT. Dan had lots of them in October. For the M8 you will have to mask down the finder to crop sensor H mode. Tape or ink marker and mm ruler. I use the ones above and believe me you are not missing anything from EVF. There is/was a web page called visoflex pages. My quick check does not seem to locate it. Maybe a sub page on Tripod.com?
