To my eyes, one of the most beautiful and functional F1 car ever produced - race-winning ex Juan Manuel Fangio / Stirling Moss '64 Mercedes W196-R Gand Prix car with full 'streamliner' body, especially desigfned for high-speed tracks such as Monza and Spa, where it demonstrated significantly higher topspeed than the open-wheel body on the same chassis, which was used primarily on shorter, twistier 'handling' tracks.

another shot, this one of the driver's 'office' - with three pedals and a shift lever, not paddles, and instruments that communicated how the car was behaving instead of blinking LEDs.

.................and now for the 'Homely' - an early Jag XK-120 that suffered the indignity of being sent to Italy in the early '50s for a rebodying by a 'carrozzeria', - I fail to see any improvement.

 

I post these images because these cars are both from the same era.
