I was taking some shots meant for an HDR composite when one of the files instead of being a normal .DNG file turned out as a .BIA file, but otherwise with the normal sequence in the filename. The file is 20.1MB large, and I cannot do anything with it. Does anyone have any clue? Could it be an unprocessed RAW file which somehow got aborted?

A .BIA file is a Basic Information Analyser file. It is normally used as an intermediary in encryption or decryption processes. The only thing I can suggest is that it could be the information that is removed from the internal RAW file to arrive at the DNG and would then normally be deleted as a temp file i.e DNG + BIA = RAW.
