I recently lost the black plastic square cap for the rectangular hood of my 35mm summicron asph f/2.0 while on a photo trip and was wondering where to get a replacement for it? I checked online and couldn't find the exact same type, that slides onto the sides of the rectangular and fits snug. Im guessing other people have lost one before so I thought I'd ask the Leica community how to get a replacement. Thanks.

Which Summicron ASPH is this – the 'classic' one with the clip on hood or the more recent version with the screw-in hood? If the former, you should be able to buy it from most dealers. It is part 14043 and, at about £35 or so, is made from the world's most expensive plastic. :D

It's the newest 35mm summicron asph with a screw on rectangular hood.

This is the one you need –  #14212 – it's the same cap that goes on a number of other hoods, including the screw-in hood for the current 35 Summilux. B&H do stock it, as do Popflash. The part number for the 35 Summicron hood that it goes on is #12470 and is the same as the hood on the latest 28 Elmarit F2.8.
