Topsy Posted October 31, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 31, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, Apologies for the absolute NOOB plea for help here, however, I am trying to set up my new to me M9 (which has firmware V 1.204 and the sensor has been replaced). I am trying to get things like JPG, White Balance, Colour Management amongst other things but am getting nowhere. I have RTFM until the ink is falling off the pages (metaphorically it's a PDF) but I can't seem to get the Image parameters menu, resolution or anything like that. I can set DNG compression but that's where it ends. Now I have no lens to fit at the moment frustratingly waiting for the delivery of my new to me 35mm f2 Summicron, is this the cause of my issue, can you only get those menus with a lens fitted? Please put me out of my misery, I am losing the will with this one, grateful for any/all advice. Regards, Topsy.

pop Posted October 31, 2017 Share #2 Posted October 31, 2017 Pressing the SET button is supposed to show a menu on the screen which contains an entry titled "user profile", or so the manual says. This seems to be the place where you activate and deactivate the snapshot mode. The snapshot mode is one of the setting which disable many other settings. However, setting the JPEG rendering options (such as WB and so on) will only be possible when the camera is set to store images in the JPEG format.
Topsy Posted October 31, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted October 31, 2017 Hi all, doubly embarrassed now that it has been pointed out to me that you just have to press the set button rather than the menu button. Dilemma now solved.

Thanks for the speedy response Pop, I couldn't find in the manual anywhere it said to just press the set button, I'll go back and scour it. Bit of a difference from my more recent cameras so I expect it will take a while. Good thing these days though learning is easier and faster with Forums like this one and it's members willing to give free advice. Thanks again.
m0n0 Posted November 2, 2017 Share #5 Posted November 2, 2017 Hi all, doubly embarrassed now that it has been pointed out to me that you just have to press the set button rather than the menu button. Dilemma now solved. No one should feel embarrassed to ask. Now pop's answer will be available to the next person to come up against this little issue. I think I had the same question when I got my M9. I only wish it were available then at today's prices. It's great to see someone starting out with it today. I hope you have very good times together.
