yst Posted October 30, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 30, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Good day! May I ask those who have the experience, that if it is important to go through the trouble of packing/sending/costs/time-waiting to have a Leica 50/f1.4 ASPH-M lens retro fit with the 6-bit code? Any real or worthy advantages? Or it is fine as it is without the 6-bit code (for use on the digital M cameras)? Advertisement Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Hi yst, Take a look here Question on 50/f1.4 ASPH lens 6-bit or not?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ShivaYash Posted October 30, 2017 Share #2 Posted October 30, 2017 Just manually select it, I think the M9 and onwards allows for this. The M8 does not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Leicaiste Posted October 30, 2017 Share #3 Posted October 30, 2017 (edited) If you have just one lens it is of no use. You can set it once for all. If you have more lenses it will save you the hassle to change manually the lens used in the camera settings each time you change lens. a.noctilux Posted October 30, 2017 Share #5 Posted October 30, 2017 What is so important to have "which lens used" to be recorded? For 50mm lenses, not really important if some vignetting at full open don't bother you. I use some old lenses without coding (Noctilux/Summilux/Summicron/Summar/Elmar/etc). I only see some vignetting removed automatically (coding or put-in-lens-type) from 35mm focal lenses and less.
