Well a I had to immediately send them both to have the rangefinder alignment fixed. I think this is due to rough handling by the courrier that delivered the cameras to the shop. Jeff S Posted November 1, 2017 Share #63  Posted November 1, 2017  The way some people are carrying on you'd think the Leica factory and their authorised service centres are all a bunch of amateurs, it's anyone's guess how these buffoons managed to design and manufacture such incredible lenses in the first place.. Don Goldberg (DAG) worked for Leitz in the 70's (as did Sherry Krauter), and later for Leica NJ. Don's dad, Norman, started the first US repair facility working with Leica cameras, and separately invented and patented parts for some Leica cameras... http://gmpphoto.blogspot.com/2012/12/m2-250-leica-few-have-ever-seen.html?m=1  These experts know Leica products inside and out, literally, and speak from experience when they criticize certain aspects of current materials, construction or procedures. I've spoken with both Don and Sherry on underlying factors related to my own service issues.  Beyond that, it's well known that Leica NJ service has serious issues, some of which have been exacerbated by parts failures. I've had reputable dealers express serious concerns about repair, service and communications, not just with customers, but with themselves. The debacle with S lens AF issues was the most recent example causing huge frustration.... bad parts, delays, lost customer products, lack of communications, and more.  So, yes, at times, one would think amateurs are involved. But of course, as usual in these circumstances, good people sometimes are subject to less than ideal circumstances. And for every bad circumstance, there are vastly more unreported success stories.
