Sorry, a stupid question: I see numbers of condensated expressions I do not understand... maybe they are explained somewhere... can't find... they inhibit me to appreciate some dense comments... LOL, ROTFLAMAO and so... what they mean ? I feel so stupid... a member of a club that does not know all the right rules... is someone so kind to post a translettering ? I promise I won't start to use them in excess...

LOL - Laughing out loud.

ROTFLMAO - Rolling on the floor laughing my ass off.

There are plenty more common on email and the internet. I live in Washington DC the land of acronyms.

And of course photography is full of them.

Here's a site that will help you:

Uh... thanks ... I feel myself rather smart for I guessed by myself that IMHO stands for In My Humble Opinion (really, I thought also of Honest Opinion) , BTW is trivial... and I guessed also that LOL had to be related with Laughing... but really the ROTFLMAO was a mistery unitl now... I'm going to sleep very satisfied... apart the cul8er from Klaus... but a guy that shots with a La Cimbali (made in Italy, BTW) and is waiting like me for the 15-400 Noctilux zoom (*) surely uses smart acronyms.

(*) now, I just got infos it has been stretched to a 12-560, and maybe f 0,94 to beat ol' Canon

Wack... maybe I'm too old for THE NET... Cilla Black... who is she ? What damn is so special in her chat ? I said once... this is the first forum I partecipate, and the only at the moment...and... have mercy on me...I run a company where everyday people is struggling to make things like synchronizing massive data bases of 3D engineering data from Japan to Italy, from France to Sweden... to make them accessible from China (NOT downloadable, eh eh :) )... but my personal usage of the net is so trivial...

Cilla Black was the hat-check girl at The Cavern Club in Liverpool, when The Beatles first performed.

She had a very successful singing career in the 60s and early 70s. By the 90s, she was the highest paid woman on British television.

Thanks, Andy... it's never too late to learn something related to the Fab Four... I have a daughter 13 years old, and she's staring just this year to appreciate... it's incredible... she plays classic piano... in family we have no cult for Beatles... but when she discovered a pair of CDs... ADDICTED !

Luigi

If your daughter is into The Beatles, she must get to listen to this interview with John Lennon, from 1970.

I heard it while in the car this morning. More than well worth 45 minutes of your life.

BBC - Radio 4 - Listen Again page

Then, on the right hand side, there's a link to the "Wenner Tapes". The link will expire on 13th July...

Actually, I read somewhere those people weren't wearing hats at all. :)

Ha, ha, I'm listening to the "Abbey Road" whole morning. Beatles were the greatest because they were mocking with their popularity. But Cilla sang better.
