Hey Tim,

I don't know if this was posted before or not, but CONGRATS!!!!!!!!! on your images being a link from the Leica M8 web page.

Leica Camera AG - Photography - M8

Best,

Ray

Thank you Ray - they have been there for a few months now and I have a private game I play on Zenfolio, which is that when I started that gallery there was a guy with some shots of airplanes who had 16,000+ views for his gallery and I had about three - until the Leica link. I am creeping up nicely and, unless Zenfolio gets invaded by a convention of F-15 lovers, I predict that I might oust him from the top spot sometime in September - provided of course that people continue to visit the Lecia M8 homepage...

Now, how to make some cash out of all this... Hmmm...?? :-)

some of the up close and personal portraits are lovely and remarkable. What lens did you use for these?

Woody Spedden

Hi Woody, and thank you.

If you let me know which ones interest you particularly I'd be happy to let you know which lenses were used. Many of the better ones of the sort you describe were 50 lux, one or two were 90 elmarit, and a few were with the 35 lux with focus pulled forward a touch. I lost a lor on the first day due to not having caught onto the backfocus issue at F4 and 5.6 in particular, and even some of the ones I posted (cat and graffiti in narrow street for example, which was prefocussed on the brick parallel to the cat's nose) are not sharp enough for my tastes at the point on which I wanted to focus.

Tim - both a testament to the quality of your work, and a vindication of the M8 as a creative tool.

Thank you Chris,

I have to say that though that trip was the first time I discovered backfocus (I received the 35 lux a day or two before I went) it was also the time I first realised that I wouldn't be using my 5D much any more: the M8 is perfect for this sort of work and I have never used another travel/street camera that comes close.

All that 35 lux focus bashing and they still love ya'- I'm impressed. Besides you're pictures are amazing. Congrats!

It's not bashing, it's constructive commentary from an unwitting but not unwilling beta-tester!

;-)
