drgary Posted October 22, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 22, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) My Leica Q is using firmware 2.0. While shooting, a grey circle shows up in the LCD display just to the left of the battery level meter where you would expect to see the stabilization icon. The circle is displayed irrespective of whether or not the stabilization is active, and in fact the stabilization icon never shows up. I've looked through the manual to no avail. Any idea what this signifies? Thanks Gary

HighlandK Posted October 22, 2017 Share #2 Posted October 22, 2017 It's all about the display mode. You are in video display mode. Use the centre pad button to cycle through. This other thread deals with it too https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/263927-mode-lock-photovideo/

This other thread deals with it too https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/263927-mode-lock-photovideo/ Thank you again. Since I never shoot video, I never even knew there was a different display mode for video. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

robertdecastro Posted October 30, 2017 Share #5 Posted October 30, 2017 (edited) I have a different display question. When I take a photo and immediately preview it through the EVF it usually looks low resolution at first but if I wait a while or zoom in and out it eventually transforms into a much clearer/sharper image? Is this normal for the Leica Q? The only reason it bothers me a bit is because sometimes I mistakenly think I’ve missed focus when it’s really fine. I shoot JPG + Raw if that makes a difference. I’ve noticed exactjy the same operation on my Q and also have mistakenly thought I did not have sharp focus. I also shoot jpg + RAW. I’ll have to run an experiment of shooting RAW only and see if it changes the operation.

You are too fast for the computer in the Q. It takes time to process the image to properly display. All things come to him who waits.
beez Posted October 30, 2017 Share #8 Posted October 30, 2017 All the digital Leicas I've used - M8, M9, and Q do this - the preview on the screen is a jpeg rendering that needs to be made by the camera before it displays. In my experience, it only takes 2-3 seconds at the most. It does the same thing when shooting DNG only.
robertdecastro Posted October 30, 2017 Share #9 Posted October 30, 2017 Thank you both for confirming this. Good to know it’s normal behaviour for a Leica!
