jmahto Posted October 9, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 9, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) This year I was busy and didn't go to San Francisco air show. However, at the last minute I decided to hike up a small hill close to my home and shoot it from a distance. From approx 28 miles as crow flies. There was good amount of atmospheric haze that's why I didn't expect the view to be beautiful. I had to heavily process the pictures to get some contrast and color. At the end I liked what I got. I could see the entire flight path for the aerobatic maneuvers and city gave a good reference to the scale. This would not have been possible if I shot from close to the location.Nex6 + Telyt 180 APO 3.4. Only the first pic is using X2 APO. Welcome, dear visitor! BTW, I calculated the height of the loop using known angle of view (vertical) for my lens on this sensor and horizontal distance to the city. It came to 1.7 miles (9,000ft = 2,700 meters). This was approximately right since Blue Angels' aerobatics maneuvering ceiling is 10,000 ft. abrewer Posted December 22, 2017 Share #4 Posted December 22, 2017 As a NAVY veteran I have a soft spot for the Blue Angels, but to be brutally honest the Patrouille de France and the Canadian Snowbirds are better aerobatic showmen and show-women
