tommycrown Posted June 28, 2007 Share #1  Posted June 28, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I realized this when my friend wanted to save money by buying Panny rather than Leica.  he recently purchased DMC LZ7. When I saw it, I realized the lens does NOT have Leica name on it.  I always thought Panny uses Leica lens all time, but I guess not. DMC-FX series, FZ series, and others use leica lens, but why not LZ series?  Does anyone know about this?  Thanks  Tommy
Advertisement Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Hi tommycrown, Take a look here Panasonic uses Leica lens?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bleung Posted June 29, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted June 29, 2007 Actually, some Panasonic DC's are indeed not equiped with a Leica lens. Just like when you purchase a Sony, the lens is not for sure Zeiss.
luigi bertolotti Posted June 29, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted June 29, 2007 Panasonic has a very broad product range... Leica-branded lenses start from a certain point and up through the product line... a normal marketing strategy when a mass manufacturer decides to have an alliance with a prestige brand. Of course, real engineering & manufacturing issues are a thing apart... I wouldn't be surprised if the depicted Lumix lens and the Leica Vario lenses of the FX models are coming out from the same factory
