with CCD low-pass filter replaced by Kolari Vision.

I have read that changing the front filter can alter the color rendition. I hope this isn't true. Regardless, enjoy your ME as much as I enjoy mine.

I have two Leica M9's. One bought this year from Kolari vision. To some degree there is a truth to that as far as light transmission is concerned. Kolari vision offers M9's with different glasses, you have Bg39, Bg60, Bg61 and then there is Leica replaced glass.  If it's the BG60, that lowers your transmission about a quarter of a stop. If it's the BG61, its transmission is very close to stock. Those differences are reflected in the price.

I saw some guy in China did the comparison between the original and DIY replaced filter a while ago, and he did mention that the colours were slightly different.  Mybe he is you?  😆

One month later shooting with my M9 I think I agree - it's better than ever! 😄

Some days ago I bought M9 (produced in 2010 - CCD:ID:5) with shutter count under 3000. Camera was not used by previous owner for the last 10 years. I made some test shots to check filter corrosion before buying the camera, but found only a lot of dust. I brought the camera for cleaning and examining the sensor to Leica technician, who said, that wet cleaning of the sensor could speed up the corrosion issue and that he found one small corrosion point on the very edge of the sensor filter. Herewith some test shots before I will take M9 to travel. Enjoying the rich colours out of the camera. First one with Noctilux 50/1 E58, rest with Cron 35/2 ASPH.

Regards to all M9 shooters.

Here's a shot I don't normally take with my M9s. 35mm Summicron with 6 Stop ND + Polariser to slow the shutter down to 1/4 sec on a tripod.

How do you know which way to turn the CPL filter without live view?

I use the Lee SeVen5 System I set the shot up then put the polariser on the filter holder and before fitting it to the camera I look through the filter while adjusting the polarisation once I am happy I fit the filter holder on to the lens which has the adapter ring on I don't have to move the position of the polariser on this system once I have it how I want it. I then meter through the filter and shoot.

No point trying to check the result on the M9 screen it isn't good enough to assess it.

Good tip! Never thought of using square cpl filter that way.

Cheers!

Hi, sorry if I gave the impression it was a square CPL, the Lee SeVen5 System is a square filter system that has a CPL that fits on the front of the Filter holder and is turner independantly of any ND/ND Grads that are in the slots so you can have a grad in place and polarise without moving the horizon of the grad.
