A great series of images but my favourite is this one which I think is wonderful.

If I may, I have a question. You have used two different cameras (a M9P and a M10). How do you select which one you choose, and why? the sensor on the M9 is different to the M10, is it that obvious? Do you look at a scene and suddenly say "that looks like a M9 picture"? I have both a M9 and M240 (together with film Leicas) but I never take two with me on to the street.

Thanks, and keep posting!

My dear friend,

I appreciate the hardships of life and have always been convinced (as have my superiors) of the usefulness of physical labour, so it is only natural that I always carry two Leicas - not least perhaps because two Leicas are always better than one - and a crooked back can also bring honour. I also don't always know why I sometimes use one camera and sometimes the other, my impression is that 50 mm shots often look more intimate and organic (e.g. #307, #456).

28 mm is always a challenge, the composition is more difficult, the image essence that you have in your head and hope to see at least half of later on in the picture is harder to grasp. I'm proud of myself every time I have a acceptable 28 mm image (e.g. #577, #581, #583) and that's why I stick with it and try to push myself.

Cordially Yours, - and congratulations on the coronation of King Charles III.

Ah, I hadn't noticed that the two cameras had different focal length lenses so you don't have the hassle of changing lenses - good thinking! I do understand what you mean about the 50mm, it does add a certain amount of intimacy to street images. I recently went the other way and took my 24mm Elmarit for a walk on my M6 which was interesting.

As regards the Coronation, parades and ceremonies are certainly one of the few things that we do very well. However there has been a reasonable amount of protest here about the high cost of such events to which our royal family do not contribute. There were around 11,000 police and 4,000 troops engaged for the day, not to mention the rehearsals etc. and the unimagined other costs. At a time when our economy is in the worse state since the end of the war, with more people going to food banks etc., and the NHS on its knees, it is hard to justify this theatrical extravaganza in many peoples eyes.

But back to photography .......
