I've just received the new Leica S half case and strap by Angelo Pelle http://www.angelo-pelle.com . In the past I had a lot of half cases for by M made by Angelo Pelle but with the S he went even a step further regarding fitting. The case and strap are wonderfully finished in real Italian leather with a beautiful irregular texture. The backdoor is also included and integrated in the half case. The case protects the S and makes it a second skin. You don't need to remove the case for fitting a tripod which is very handy. Angelo Pelle offers a lot of different colors/finishes for the S on his website. albertknappmd Posted September 21, 2017 Share #2 Posted September 21, 2017 (edited) I have Luigi Crescenzi's version and here are a few shots... I have had cases made by Luigi for my Ms as well as the S2, 006 and now 007. Fit like a glove. The LCD cover is detachable which is a lot more practical especially in the field. albertknappmd Posted September 21, 2017 Share #3 Posted September 21, 2017 Luigi's design is excellent and actually PROTECTS more of the camera. Welcome, dear visitor! albertknappmd Posted September 21, 2017 Share #4 Posted September 21, 2017 The Luigi case has a clever solution for the side ports as well. Does the Pelle case address this? In addition, am interested to know how the Pelle case solved the vexing tripod issue: If the stabilizing screw is simply attached to the leather case and not the camera itself, then the camera will shake as the exposure is taken as there is not enough support form the case to keep the S stable. We tried this with Luigi and could not find an acceptable solution. Furthermore, does the screw take a RRS L plate? Thanks, Albert
alan.y Posted September 21, 2017 Share #5 Posted September 21, 2017 Luigi's design is excellent and actually PROTECTS more of the camera. Albert, is this your S2? Why does it have the finely textured rubber armor instead of the leatherette? Also, now that the rubber armor of my (second) S 007 has--inevitably it appears!--begun to detach, I'm curious as to whether the Luigi case is a valid temporary fix to this problem. Does the case hug the body tightly enough to restore a secure grip in spite of the detached rubber armor?
albertknappmd Posted September 21, 2017 Share #6 Posted September 21, 2017 The S2 pictured above is Luigi's. As to the secure grip, Luigi's is excellent. i would however have your rep fix the issue as well. I have used his cases for years and they have really prevented disaster on several occasions like the Antarctic where I dropped an S2 and the case saved it from getting damaged by rocks and ice as well as once in Japan where the case saved it from major trauma! They fit like a glove and are very very handy. Albert

Thanks, Albert A my friend has leica S007 with angelo pelle case , i have used his wonderful camera a couple of times . There is a tripod screw that is fixed inside the camera and so the case/camera combo is very stable. i like the grip left open since S007 is really FAT camera, and so handling is perfect without adding even leather on the grip. ps S007 is really a dream
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted October 5, 2017 Share #8 Posted October 5, 2017 Albert I know everyone to there own, but for me the S needs a case "like a hole in the head" The Luigi one you show above looks like a Luigi case that I bought for my M9P.........it was a horrible fit and the finishing was very poor. I ended up putting it in the bin and buying the Arte Di Mango hafe case which in my opinion is in a class of its own.........but this was for the M Back to the issue of having a case on the S.............its just wrong. The camera fits perfectly in ones hand just the way it came from Leica. Whereas the M system could be classed as a fashion item with pink, blue or whatever colour case that takes your fancy. The S is a work horse camera..........defiantly not a fashion statement :( Neil

My case saved my S2 and an S (006) from real damage when I fell or dropped the camera in the Antactic and South America. The thick padding protected the body. Luigi's fit for both the M and the S2, S (006) and (007) as well as the finish have been excellent. That is why most forum people use him. I am sorry that your particular M case was not up to par and would tell you to let Luigi know..
