shootinglulu Posted September 19, 2017 Share #1 Posted September 19, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am so torn between these cameras. Which ever I choose, it will be paired with a single lens, the 28 Summilux. Many Thanks for anyones impressions.
Advertisement Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Hi shootinglulu, Take a look here Rendering of M10 vs SL?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pedaes Posted September 19, 2017 Share #2 Posted September 19, 2017 Thought about the Q if you want auto-focus? What is the point of pairing a SL with a single fixed focus lens? The rendering will be what you want it to be from all three.
Joakim Posted September 19, 2017 Share #3 Posted September 19, 2017 Even if the rendering is somewhat different between the cameras it must be minor compared to the difference between the view finders, handling and the shape and size between them. tom0511 Posted September 19, 2017 Share #4 Posted September 19, 2017 You need to decode which handling and viewfinder you prefer. Focal length between 28 an 50 i prefer the simplicity of the M over the sl, except you need super accurate framing.

MT0227 Posted September 19, 2017 Share #6 Posted September 19, 2017 I own the SL and the M10. Ergonomically, with some of the smaller M lenses, the SL may not balance well in your hands. I'd say the M10 would be a better fit for the 28/35 M focal lengths; I use my SL mainly with a Nocti f/1 and the Summicron-M 90APO. I think you need to ask yourself a few questions: 1) Do you want a rangefinder (OVF) or a camera with an EVF (you can add an EVF to the M10 if you want) 2) Will you ever have the need for AF or OIS? 3) Do you care about footprint size and weight of the platform? I personally went for the SL to shoot my Noctilux (which I already owned) as well as my 90APO because my eyes were having a harder time focusing that focal length with a range finder. I feel you will like the rendering of either camera, certainly enough to correct in post if needed. Enjoy!

adli Posted September 20, 2017 Share #8 Posted September 20, 2017 I agree with MT0227(?) that the overarching question is wheter you want a rangefinder camera or a EVF camera. I have both the M10 and the SL. I use M-lenses on the M10 and R-lenses on the SL. I have the L-to-M adapter but I see no reason to put M-lenses on my SL with very few exeptions. But then I am a rangefinder guy....

shootinglulu Posted September 20, 2017 Author Share #10 Posted September 20, 2017 I am happy using rangefinders, will need to source an SL to check out the EVF. Many thanks.
