Voigtlander super-wide Heliar on M9

Has anyone a definitive answer as to the safety of using this lens on M9? Kelby says OK but several people have told me I would risk damaging the sensor. Thanks.

I think any time you use a lens on the M9 you risk damaging the sensor. Best to keep camera in box and let the sensor degrade gracefully.  :)

I had terrible results using version 1 of the 15mm but the latest is good!

I have the first version and never had any problems with it. But as I have read the image quality from lens to lens can vary. The big advantage of the first version is, that it is small and light.

The CV 15/4.5 Version 2 (M mount - RF coupled), which I have, is perfectly usable on the M9. I found the best 6 bit setting was not the 21/2.8 which most recommended but the 28/2 pre-asph. There is still a bit of Italian flag but very easy to set up a template to get rid of that on Capture One, where that also gets rid of what mild vignetting is left after the in camera correction.

I found it was considerably worse on the CMOS sensor of the M240, to the extent I gave up and bought a Leica 18mm SEM, when I got offered an ex-display one at 25% off. The 18 SEM as you would expect is a whole different bouilloire de poisson to the CV15. I have not actually tried the CV on the SL but I would guess the results would be similar to the M240. I put the CV15 on Fleabay at £200 but had no takers.

In terms of Italian colors, my CV 15 vII on M240 has no issues *after flat field" correction in LR. My issue is corner/edge sharpness but it is perfectly usable for A4 (maybe A3) print size.
