bozu_shutterbugger Posted August 21, 2017 Share #1 Posted August 21, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Fellow Leicamates, Whats a good cable release that would work both on M10 and M240? I read somewhere that the threads have changed is it true? For the ones in US, hope you enjoyed the craziness. Thanks,

I have lots of cable releases but no answer. If an answer can be found it should be FAQ. Thanks for bringing it up!
Peter H Posted August 22, 2017 Share #3 Posted August 22, 2017 The standard Nikon cable release I've been using for many years works well on my M240 and my M10.
willemr Posted August 23, 2017 Share #4 Posted August 23, 2017 I also used several cable releases and they worked in every camera (canon, nikon, and Leica) with the screw-in in the shutter-button. Prices ranged form 5 to 50 euros. The digital Nikon and Canon camera's don't seem to have this feature anymore. All wireless/IR or USB remotes nowadays. UliWer Posted August 26, 2017 Share #7 Posted August 26, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) the old Leica one should be fine... Albert I used several old Leica releases on the "old" Visoflex III. Since you had to apply some pressure to make the leaver go down on the release button, the textile cover of all of them broke after a while. I found a Horseman cable release - it was even sold by a Leica Store! - which is much more rugged. Unfortunately it seems to be no longer available: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/91739-REG/Horseman_29542_Cable_Release_Large.html Edit:the threads havn't changed. I can use old and new cable releases (if the don't brake...) with the M10 as well as for older Leica models.

Tobers Posted August 27, 2017 Share #11 Posted August 27, 2017 I have some no-name cable release that I bought for £2. It has a thingy that lets you lock the shutter open for bulb mode shots which is essential for very long exposures.
